Who needs this qualification? This training is essential for anyone who may need or be required to use this equipment in an emergency situation.
Subjects covered
If the candidates have had no previous training, this course must be combined with a course in
Basic Life Support.
If the candidates are qualified first aiders who hold a valid First Aid At Work certificate, then this course will be a half day (4 hour) course comprising:
- Refresher in Basic Life Support Techniques and Protocols
- Use & Function of Automated External Defibrillator Equipment
Outcomes
On completing this qualification candidates will have the skill and competence to use an automated external defibrillator in emergency situations.
Course Information
Duration: Half day programme
Assessment: Ongoing oral and practical assessment of competence throughout the course including using an AED
Certification: Successful candidates will receive a certificate, which the Resuscitation Council (UK) recommend is renewed every 6 months
Prerequisite: Ideally a valid First Aid At Work certificate, but see above for further details should the candidate not have this qualification.
