Who needs this qualification? This refresher course is for those who have already attained the First Aid At Work qualification including those who have responsibility for first aid in their workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, and currently hold a valid First Aid At Work certificate and need to renew it.
Please note that candidates MUST undertake this course BEFORE the expiry date of their previous qualification, failure to do so means they will be ineligible to attend this course and they will need to attend a full four day First Aid At Work course to regain their qualification.
The above regulations referred to require that in order to provide first aid to their employees who are injured or become ill at work, employers must have adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel. Regulation 3(2) states that for this purpose a person shall not be suitable unless he has undergone such training and has such qualifications as the Health and Safety Executive may approve for the time being in respect of that case or class of case, and such additional training, if any, as may be appropriate in the circumstances of that case.
Subjects covered
This course, which will comprises of at least 12 guided learning hours, offers revision of the topics covered in the full four day course and includes any changes there may have been in procedures and/or protocols.
Outcomes
On completing this qualification candidates will have the skill and competence to carry out appropriate first aid procedures in the workplace.
Course Information
Duration: Two day programme
Assessment: Multiple-choice examination and practical assessments of competence
Certification: Successful candidates will receive an H.S.E. approved certificate that is valid for 3 years
Prerequisite: Attendees at this course will need to bring their current certificate, which will need to be shown to the tutor.
